Albert Loarn Millé, an accomplished engineer with five decades of experience in the automotive industry, most recently excelled at Westport Fuel Systems Inc. within the Ford Motor Company. A senior supplier development engineer from 1992 to 2024 and a senior engineer from 2014 to 2024, he led initiatives to optimize supplier performance and reduce costs in the automotive fuel systems sector; developed dual fuel injectors, which enhanced vehicle efficiency and reduced emissions; and managed supplier relationships across global markets—including Europe and Asia—to ensure quality and timely delivery of components. Long before these positions, Mr. Millé excelled academically at Cleary University in his home state of Michigan, initially specializing in history and anthropology. He gained hands-on experience with archaeologists at Wayne State University, Notre Dame University, the Mackinaw State Parks Commission, and throughout Michigan. Though he wished to pursue archaeology as a career, the income reality of the job led him to shift his focus to something more financially stable.
He launched his new journey in 1975 as a manufacturing engineering manager at MAC Valves Inc., where he remained for 10 years, before beginning a decade-long stretch with the Ford Motor Company in 1986—brought on initially as a consultant and tool expert for a gasoline fuel injector program, his efforts helped lower costs to just over 20 cents per injector within two and a half years. In addition, he reduced the size of the workforce by replacing grinding operations with machining operations, which was crucial for maintaining tight tolerances for the injectors. He stabilized the process, leading to an overall cost reduction of $3.5 million annually. He would subsequently serve as an engineer and supplier technical assistance engineer throughout the 1990s.
Between 2000 and 2012, all while maintaining his role with Ford, Mr. Millé lent his expertise as a supplier development specialist to the Visteon Corporation and Automotive Components Holdings. He was also active as a senior supplier development engineer for Faurecia for two years. In addition to his primary endeavors, he has a passion for woodworking, building furniture and cabinetry, engraving, metal working, and making antique firearms—he’s also an avid shooter, serving as a dedicated member of the National Rifle Association of America and the National Muzzle Loading Rifle Association.
Looking ahead, Mr. Millé plans to work for another 20 years. He intends to have a significant impact on sustainable practices in the automotive industry through innovative engineering solutions.
